M. Hopple & Co., Cincinnati’s premier fine paper goods retailer, is proud to announce our fourth annual Holiday Card Contest. This year’s contest will feature our favorite green spaces. Artists are asked to showcase a park, garden, nature preserve or other green space in winter or dressed up for the holidays.
In keeping with our ‘green’ theme, the Collection will be printed on
100% recycled paper.
A distinguished panel of judges will select three submissions plus one student submission, and these four designs will be printed as part of the 2009 CityArt Holiday Card Collection. The collection will be sold at M. Hopple & Co. Kenwood, with a portion of the proceeds going to ArtWorks, a nonprofit arts organization that offers job training, creative services, and public art to the Greater Cincinnati community.
Winning art from this competition has been featured on a local morning news show, the Fountain Square Jumbotron, and in numerous newspapers and other media outlets in our region. Since 2006, over 20,000 Holiday Cards have been sold with nearly $3,000 donated to ArtWorks.

Contest Guidelines |
- Art should feature a green space, park, nature preserve or garden
in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area during the holiday
season.
- Because the winning submissions will be sold as cards during the
holiday season, submissions should be seasonal (avoid summer scenes,
spring flowers, etc.)
- Media types can include photo, painting, drawing and collage.
- Original art should be no larger than 11” x 17.” The final cards
will be 5” x 7” and printed in full color or black and white, as
appropriate.
- Artists should avoid glitter, three dimensional features or other
techniques that will not reproduce effectively.
- Artists are asked to remove or obscure any features or objects
that might be copyrighted, trademarked or otherwise are not part of
the public domain, i.e. company logos, unless permission is granted in
writing by the owner of the feature or object.
- Submissions must be mailed or delivered to:
M. Hopple & Co.
Attention: Mary Hopple

- Artists must agree not to compete with the Holiday Card Collection
by reproducing their art in a similar fashion through December 31,
2010.
- Contest organizers have the right to adjust contest guidelines as
needed.
